MY TOP 5 BRISBANE DOG PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATIONS
If you’ve been thinking about a photography session with your dog, one of the things you might be wondering is WHERE would you have it?
The choice of location is so important in not only making sure that you and your dogs have an awesome time at the photo shoot itself, but also that the photographs we capture are everything you hoped they would be.
Do you want a session that’s high energy with lots of action and playtime? Or somewhere super quiet for a pup who’s easily distracted or not a fan of other dogs or people? Does your dog not travel well so having somewhere close to home is the most important thing to consider?
Over the last 12 years I’ve found some fantastic locations that offer a great variety of backgrounds and environments.
Have a look at some of my favourite Brisbane dog photography locations below.
#1 For the beach loving dog, my favourite beach at Bribie Island:
This location offers all the great things about the beach without the crowds of some of the more popular dog friendly spots. Calm water makes it ideal for dogs who love to swim but might not be super confident in the surf, and the pretty sun drenched dunes are great for exploring!
Definitely best on low tide when there’s lots of sand to play on, and even gets a rare Queensland sunset over the water at certain times of the year.
Access via Red Beach gives you a 500m stretch of beach that is on-leash only before you hit the off-leash area. This is great if your dog is better on lead. Or we can access via Woorim Beach to walk straight onto the off-leash dog beach from the carpark.

#2 A little bit of the countryside without leaving Brisbane
This location offers some fantastic backdrops for our photo shoots! From wide open fields and big blue skies, to a treelined track perfect for action shots.
There are even adjacent paddocks with cows, goats and sheep to really make you feel like you’re out in the countryside, not 15 minutes from Brisbane city.
It’s ideal for dogs who love to run, are OK with meeting a few other dogs enjoying the space and for the people who love our wide angle, quirky, big blue sky images!!
Lots of trees and pretty long grasses also make for some gorgeous late afternoon light…perfect for those super pretty backlit images.
This location is popular with other photographers, for good reason, so a weekday session is ideal to avoid having the share the best spots!

#3 Lush green parkland for dogs who prefer a quiet space
Hidden away in Brisbane’s western suburbs this beautiful spot offers a lovely quiet location that somehow manages to stay lush and green even through the heat of summer.
Lots of space and beautiful golden light makes this the perfect spot for anyone who loves a lush green backdrop of big trees and grass, with the peace and quiet of a park that’s still relatively undiscovered.
This location is a favourite for dogs who are anxious, reactive, or just easily distracted.

#4 Quirky old heritage town that gives endless photo options
If you love lots of colour, and want a variety of different backdrops in your images then this location is for you! From an historic fire station with its own dog size fire hydrant, to pretty tree lined paths there is something for everyone at this unique North Brisbane heritage town.
It requires a permit to photograph at, so it’s also a perfect spot for dogs who are a little anxious, reactive or easily distracted as it’s almost always free of other dogs and sees very few other people at the time of day we visit.

#5 Inner city creek and parkland for the dog who loves to make new friends
If your dog loves the water and is happy around other dogs then Kedron Brook could be a great option for their session.
This off leash dog park and creek in the inner north suburb of Gordon Park is a water loving doggy heaven. We have grassy areas to run around, big trees for that pretty filtered late afternoon light, and of course lots of swimming areas to cool off and splash around in.
This location is definitely not for the anxious, or easily distracted doggo.. as there always lots of other dogs around, but for the highly social pup, it makes for a fun session!

These are just some of the many great options we have for Brisbane dog photography locations. I hope my Top 5 have given you some fun ideas about where you’d choose to have YOUR photography session!
These look like fantastic photography locations — I would have a hard time deciding… but I think the beach one would be the most fun for my dog Gunnar!
That spot was Henry Hairypants’ absolute favourite. I love going there!
Your selected locations are beautiful and I love the detail you provide for each. Any pup would be lucky to have their photograph taken at any of these locations!
Thanks Amy! There are so many beautiful spots around Brisbane. I’m very lucky 🙂
Choosing the where is such a game-changer! I love how you’re considering the vibe that fits not just the shoot but the dog’s personality too. And thinking about travel ease? Total pro move. It’s all about setting the pups (and their humans) up for success.
I totally agree! Making sure everyone is happy and comfortable (dogs and human alike) is so important.
As always, your images always make me smile. This is fantastic
Thanks so much Julie x
